“Education is the most powerful weapon to change the world”. Nelson Mandela
Education's purpose is to enable children and adults to become active participants in progress of the society. Education can help to build peaceful communities by improving the teaching and understanding of common knowledge, beliefs, and attitudes that allow people to coexist in a variety of settings. With the same purpose the International Day of Education is observed every year globally on January 24.
For holistic education, Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram follows the idea of 'Changing Course, Transforming Education.' The International Education Day was commemorated with utmost zeal, wherein, Grade I learners were apprised of the significance of this special day through educational videos. An activity ‘Learning is everywhere’ was planned where learners were encouraged to present any prop of their choice and share learning associated with it.
Grade II learners, on the other hand, conducted an interview with their parents and grandparents in order to have a better understanding of the educational system's evolution through the years. For the guardians, the entire exercise was akin to going back in time and reliving childhood memories. Grade III learners penned down their thoughts on what education means to them and how they can make a difference by helping others to learn using 'Padlet'. Learners also explored the challenges encountered by people who do not have access to Education and what can be done to help them overcome these challenges.
The day came to a close with a promise to ourselves to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and peaceful future for everyone in our community.
