An In-service Teacher Training Workshop on “Joyful Teaching and Learning of Mathematics” was organized by the School in collaboration with Pitaambar Publications on 15th September 2023.
Ms. Ishita Mukherjee, a certified master trainer for Item writing and Pedagogy of Mathematics for CBSE Capacity Building Programme conducted the session . Ms. Mukherjee is a Co-Author of the newly introduced book, Mathematical Literacy, by CBSE. She is also a CBSE Committee Member and contributor to the "Art Integration - Towards Experiential Learning " and "Innovative Teaching Methods for Joyful Learning in Mathematics", for CBSE.
The Workshop covered the following objectives -
• To equip the teachers with variety of activities in teaching and learning Mathematics.
• To strengthen the teachers in planning and visualizing lesson.
• To make the Subject-Mathematics more interesting, interactive and enjoyable.
Director-Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra welcomed Ms. Mukherjee and addressed the need for making Mathematics a loved subject by adopting fun-filled and activity based Teaching approach. The Workshop further opened with a short discussion on the history of Mathematics and its evolution. It continued with a presentation on developing ideas to motivate students through joyful activities, such as discovering, exploring, constructing, designing and solving problems that are wrapped in mathematical games, puzzles and hands-on activities.
The session was made interactive with the incorporation of entertaining games/activities on different mathematical concepts – Addition and Subtraction, Tables, Factors, multiples, Equivalent fractions, Decimals, HCF , Even and Odd numbers and Problem solving, Pythagoras tree activity, Area and Perimeter of Square and Rectangle, Polygons.
The session was enriching , interactive and informative with highlights shared on the incorporation of NEP with regard to rationalized syllabus.
