‘You don’t have to struggle in silence, we are listening.’
Lotus Valley International School, Gurugram, reinforced its commitment to workplace equality and safety by conducting a POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) Act workshop for its teachers on 13th December 2023. Under the guidance of the Director-Principal, Ms. Anita Malhotra, the Workshop was facilitated by Ms. Ritu Jawa, Vice Principal, and Ms. Preeti Garkhel, Head of Counselling Department. It served as an educational forum for the staff to learn about identifying, reporting, and addressing inappropriate and uncomfortable situations in the workplace. This initiative aligns with the Constitution of India's emphasis on equality, as stated in its Preamble and Article 14, and adheres to the mandatory compliance required for organizations with over 10 employees.
The session focused on enlightening the school's staff about their individual responsibilities and rights concerning workplace conduct. This is part of the school's ongoing effort to ensure a secure, respectful, and informed environment for all members. The workshop also served as an annual refresher to familiarize staff with the guidelines under the POSH Act.
The workshop introduced the staff to the internal committee and the redressal team, highlighting the available support system within the school. It reassured attendees that they could freely discuss any concerns related to sexual innuendos and the importance of respecting each other’s boundaries. This proactive approach by the school underlines its dedication to fostering a safe and equitable work environment, in line with the national legal framework.
